Twice Mine

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" I Peter 3:18

The story is told of a boy in Cornwall, England who had been taught how  to
carve toys out of driftwood.  The boy's crowning achievement was the making
of a boat, complete with sail, riggings and rudder.  The day came for its launching and with great pride he placed the boat in the water and watched it move away, as the breeze filled the sails.  Suddenly a strong gust of wind blew and snapped the twine attached to the boat, and with no one around to help, he tearfully watched his prize boat sail out of reach and out of sight.  Weeks went by.  One afternoon, as he passed a shop where all kinds of odds and ends were sold, he saw his boat in the window.  Someone had found his boat and sold it to the shopkeeper.  Convinced that it was his boat, he went in to claim it, only to be told that he would have to purchase it.  Counting the little money that he had earned all summer, he decided to make the sacrifice.  His precious boat exchanged hands across the counter.  As he walked out of the shop, he was heard to say, "You are my boat twice over.  I made you and now I have bought you.  You are twice mine."

Similarly, we are God's twice over.  He has made us and redeemed us.  Have you knelt in His presence to recognize His rightful claims upon your life?

1.   The Heart of our Wonderful Saviour - "For Christ hath suffered once for sins."
2.   The Holiness of our Wonderful Saviour - "The just for the unjust."
3.   The Home of our Wonderful Saviour - "That He might bring us to God."

Jesus died for you.  He was also your creator.  Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.  He says to you what the lad said to his little boat, "My child, you are twice Mine!"

    Our Vision...

At First Baptist Clarksville we desire to know Christ through the worship of God, the teaching of the Bible, and the fellowship of believers, so that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we may be like Jesus Christ and make Him known to others, for the glory of God.
